Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a Sherpa Expedition and Trekking representative will transfer you to your hotel in Thamel. Spend the day exploring this vibrant area, known for its lively markets, colorful temples, and bustling streets. Use this time for any last-minute gear shopping or relaxation. In the evening, your guide will provide a detailed trek briefing. You’ll also meet your fellow trekkers at a welcome dinner at a local Nepali restaurant, where you’ll enjoy traditional cuisine and get acquainted with the group.

This morning, board a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, enjoying panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon landing, start your trek to Chhutang, a picturesque village nestled in the Khumbu region. The trek provides a gentle introduction to the landscape and prepares you for the more challenging days ahead. Take in the serene surroundings and settle into your accommodations in this charming village.

Today, I trek across several suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River, passing through the villages of Tok-Tok, Benkar, and Monjo. Arrive at the Sagarmatha National Park entrance to present your trekking permit. Continue your journey to Namche Bazaar, a vibrant town with various amenities like restaurants, an internet café, and shops. Enjoy the bustling atmosphere and prepare for the days ahead.

Acclimatization is essential for higher altitudes. Today’s trek includes visits to Khunde and Khumjung villages, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Everest. Return to Namche Bazaar, where you can explore local attractions like the Yeti skull exhibit and a popular bakery. Keeping active helps with acclimatization, so use this opportunity to explore and enjoy the surroundings.

Follow the trail along the Dudh Kosi River, enjoying views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Taboche, and Amadablam. Reach Tengboche at 3,800 meters, where you’ll visit the Tengboche Monastery. The monastery features ornate wall hangings, a large Buddha sculpture, and traditional musical instruments. Attend a prayer ceremony, which provides a spiritual and calming experience amidst the stunning Himalayan backdrop.

Descend through forests and cross the Imja Khola river before reaching Pangboche village, known for its rock-walled fields. Continue to Dingboche for an overnight stay. Dingboche is surrounded by impressive peaks like Ama Dablam, Nuptse-Lhotse, Tawache, and Cholatse, offering beautiful views and an ideal location for acclimatization.

Trek from Dingboche to Chhukung, traversing stone-walled fields and the Imja Khola Valley. Cross icy moraines and pass by the village of Bibre to see Island Peak. The trek offers stunning views of Ama Dablam and Amphu Labtsa. This acclimatization day is crucial for preparing for higher altitudes and enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery.

From Chhukung, trek to Mera Base Camp, enjoying breathtaking views of Mt. Ama Dablam and Island Peak. The trek involves a scramble up to Chhukung Ri, where you’ll be rewarded with expansive vistas of the Himalayan range. This trek helps with acclimatization and sets the stage for the ascent to higher camps.

Ascend a steep trail to Mera High Camp, passing the moraine of the Lhotse Glacier and following a stream. Reach the camp, which is essential for acclimatization and preparing for the summit attempt. Spend the night at High Camp, where you’ll prepare for the upcoming challenging climb and enjoy the high-altitude environment.
Start early to climb Mera Peak (6,187m), navigating rocky areas and enjoying spectacular views of glaciers and surrounding peaks. After reaching the summit and taking in the breathtaking views, descend to Chhukung. From there, take a helicopter back to Lukla for an overnight stay, reflecting on your successful climb and preparing for the journey back.
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu early in the morning to avoid afternoon weather issues. Enjoy the aerial views of the Himalayas during your flight. Once in Kathmandu, relax or explore Thamel for last-minute shopping and sightseeing. In the evening, attend a farewell dinner with a cultural dance show, celebrating the end of your adventure with your guide and fellow trekkers.

A Sherpa Expedition and Trekking representative will take you to the airport three hours before your flight. As you depart, reflect on your adventure and start planning your next climbing expedition in Nepal. With its endless mountain opportunities, Nepal promises future adventures for climbers and trekkers alike.

Travel Information

Destination Location

Lake Manyara National Park covers 330 sq km (127 sq mi), 70% of which is a lake. Along with its western boundaries is the Rift Valley’s western wall. The park is famous for its birdlife – almost 400 different species – and for its elephant population and tree-climbing lions, who have a large variety of tree species to choose from. The short game-viewing circuit through Manyara offers a microcosm of the Tanzanian safari experience.

One of nature’s true wonders and a photographer’s paradise, Ngorongoro is the largest intact crater in the world, covering 265 square kilometers (102 sq mi). The 2,000-foot deep crater is home to an abundance of wild game including elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, leopards, hyenas, serval cats, jackals, pushbacks, elands, waterbucks, wildebeest, many antelope, and a large variety of birds. This is a sight that you will always remember!

Tarangire National Park covers 6,734 sq km (2,600 sq mi) and includes two large plains and a seasonal swamp in the south. This is a beautiful park filled with Baobabs and Acacias with a large variety of game such as zebras, elephants, giraffes, and waterbuck. All the animals enjoy the water coming from the Tarangire River. The animals are best viewed during the dry season, including elephant herds, elands, oryx, lesser kudo, rhino, leopards, lions, and cheetah. The birdlife is varied and plentiful. You can also see the very rare Roam Antelope in this park.
