SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK AND VICTORIA FALLS

The Luangwa Valley represents one of Southern Africa’s finest game viewing experiences, with dense animal concentrations and a comparatively open landscape.

The valley comprises three national parks: the popular and easy –to-reach, the 9,050 sq km South Luangwa National Park, the much less visited and smaller 4,636 sq km North Luangwa National Park and the tiny 300 sq km Luambe National Park.

South Luangwa is probably Zambia’s best known and most frequently visited national park. It is served by Mfuwe Airport, which receives daily flights from Lusaka. South Luangwa enjoys high densities of game, including frequent leopard sightings, and the park is home to an endemic subspecies, Thorncroft’s giraffes.

In the dry season, the animals concentrate along the western bank of the Luangwa River. Actually, the entire Luangwa ecosystem is supported by the ebb and flow of the Luangwa River, which floods the surrounding land in the rainy season.

High standards of service and accommodation, top quality guiding and a comparative absence of visitors combine to make South Luangwa National Park a real favorite for most safari seekers.

When you are there, you will be a visitor to the crescent ox-bows heaving with hippos, carmine bee-eaters erupting from their sandbank in a blur of rose-pink wings, the alarm whistle of puku as a leopard pads through the moonlit ebony grove: the sights and sounds of South Luangwa which are among Africa’s most evocative.

As for accommodation, it offers one ranging from the swanky riverside lodge to rustic bush camp and in this trip; you will be lodged at the Croc Valley Camp with riverside luxury en suite tents. The Camp fits effortlessly into the surrounding riverine habitat with fantastic views and it is not uncommon to see elephants crossing the river and strolling through the camp on a regular basis. Between safaris in the midday heat, the hippo friendly swimming pool provides the perfect place to relax and cool off.

The South Luangwa National park, Zambia’s best known park, undoubtedly or arguably offers visitors a safari experience that competes with any other on the continent. Don’t miss the exhilarating night drives and walking safaris!!!
