Flying time is 1h50min. You are met at the Kipili airstrip and drive 5km to Lake Shore Lodge arriving in time for lunch. Relax in your Chalet in the afternoon and enjoy dinner on the beach under the stars at the water’s edge.

Day 4
Katavi National Park

Leave the Lodge at sunrise to get onto the plane and fly 25min to Katavi National Park. You are met by your guide who will take you on a day’s game drive. Katavi is the third largest National Park in Tanzania yet has the same number of guests in a year that the Serengeti gets in a day in peak season. The park is truly wild and completely unspoiled. Return to Kipili in the late afternoon and overnight in your Chalet.

Day 5
The old Kipili Monastery

Take a walk up to the old Kipili Monastery, one of the oldest churches in Tanzania. It is now a ruin and stands on the hill 500m from Lake Shore. The views down to the islands and the Lake are well worth the short walk. Relax in your hammock in the afternoon or have a massage or a jaccuzzi (not included).

We set off early for Mahale. The flying time from Kipili to Mahale is 45min. You are met by the TANAPA Rangers who will take you by boat to where the chimp trekking starts. The Ranger will show you the way and will hike with you through the rainforest until you find the chimps. You will spend an hour with the chimps and then start your hike back to the boat so that you can head back to the airstrip for your flight back to Kipili.

Day 7
Lake Shore

Today is the last day at Lake Shore. In the evening we will go out for a sunset cruise around the islands.
