The following itineraries are Group Safari Itineraries for Northern Tanzania . You will be grouped with fellow travellers. The maximum group size is 16 people. This makes your safari adventure very affordable and you will spend a great time socialising with like-minded travellers.

5 DAYS: Tarangire - Ngorongoro Crater - Karatu jungle hike, cultural visit or Lake Manyara - Moshi town or Moshi forest walk

Full package lodge - Departure every Monday

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Springlands Hotel or similar hotel for dinner and overnight (HB).

Day 2: After breakfast drive to and tour Tarangire National Park, picnic lunch on the way. Late evening drive to Highview Hotel or similar hotel.
 
Day 3: After breakfast drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for half day tour in the late afternoon. Then drive back to Highview Hotel or similar hotel.

Day 4: This is a day of activity at the Karatu area. After Breakfast you will start a  3-4 hours hike with an armed ranger on a buffalo trail through the Southern forests of the Ngorongoro Conservation area. You will first reach an impressive waterfall and then a cave that has been carved out of the soil by elephants and buffaloes. On the way back for lunch at Highview Hotel, you will visit a coffee plantation. After Lunch you will visit the Iraqw cultural centre. The Iraqw are a tribe that several hundred years ago worked its way South from Ethiopia, through Kenya, to settle in the neighborhood of the Ngorongoro. In order to protect themselves and their cattle from Maasai raids, they build a system of underground settlements which are partially reconstructed and accessible to tourists. A local will show visitors around explaining the traditions and culture of the Iraqw people. Dinner and overnight at Highview Hotel.

Day 5: Half day walk around Moshi Town (you may decide to have lunch in a local restaurant) or 3 hours guided walk through the rice fields next to Springlands Hotel which are fed by the rains and melting snows of Kilimanjaro to a forest which is home to many species of monkeys. In the afternoon, transfer to Kilimanjaro airport to connect flight back home.

5 DAYS: Small Group Safari Special: Lake Manyara - Olduvai Gorge - Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater - Karatu area

Day 1: The drive from Moshi to Lake Manyara National Park takes about 4 hours. After having a picnic lunch in Manyara, you start a late afternoon game drive, which is the best time to view animals in this park. When you approach it from the east, the Rift Valley escarpment looms on the horizon forming an impressive backdrop to the lake. In the tall trees of the ground water forest, monkeys leap from branch to branch, and on the escarpment, elephants stand in the shade. Other animals frequently seen are zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, and others. Overnight at the Highview Hotel or similar hotel.

Day 2: The drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge takes 3 to 4 hours.

Olduvai Gorge is an archaeological site located in the eastern Serengeti plains, in which early human fossils were first discovered. It has an amazing landscape that resulted from the same tectonic forces that created the Great Rift Valley millions of years ago. Then, in the late evening drive to and overnight at the Serengeti Wild Camp or Ikoma Wild Camp and Cottages - full board.

Day 3: After breakfast, venture into the Serengeti’s wilderness corners for a full day of game viewing in the park. With a picnic lunch beside you, take your leisure while exploring this world heritage site, where earth’s largest concentration of plain game still roams free! In the late evening, go to the Wild Camp for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: After breakfast drive to and visit Ngorongoro Crater. Overnight at Highview Hotel.

Day 5: After breakfast, you can choose from two options: Option 1 is to do a 2-3 hours morning hike in the Southern Ngorongoro Conservation Area to see the "elephant cave" and a waterfall. Your guide (an armed ranger) will also show you interesting plants, birds and other small animals. Option 2 is to drive to and visit Tarangire National Park. In the late afternoon, drive back to the Springlands Hotel in Moshi.

Day 5: Enjoy your third day morning and afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park; it is the greatest game sanctuary in the world, fantastic in its natural beauty and unequalled in its scientific value. Serengeti National Park contains different types of animals including the big cats, Lion, Leopard, and the Cheetah and many more Elephant and Buffalo. Back to the camp for overnight stay at Ikoma Wild Camp & cottages or Serengeti Wild Camp – Full Board

Day 6: After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive inside the crater. This is the best place in Tanzania to see black rhino as well as prides of lion that include the magnificent black-manned males. There are lots of colorful flamingoes and a variety of water birds. Other game that you can see includes leopard, cheetah, hyena, other members of the antelope family, and small mammals. Dinner and overnight at the Highview Hotel - full board.

Day 7: The drive from the Highview Hotel to Tarangire National Park takes two hours. This park is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and Oryx gather to stay in Tarangire until the onset of the rain when they migrate again to good grazing areas. Then drive to the Camp for dinner and overnight stay at Tarangire Roika tented Lodge or Tarangire River Camp. - Full board

Day 8: Morning game viewing in Tarangire National Park, and in the afternoon, drive back to Moshi for dinner and overnight at the Hotel. Bed & Breakfast

Day 4: In the morning pick-up from the slopes of Oldoinyo Lengai and transfer to the Lake Natron Tented Camp for breakfast. After breakfast you will have short walks around Lake Natron visiting waterfalls, and after lunch you will drive to Highview Hotel. You will arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at Highview Hotel.

Day 5: After breakfast drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge. Picnic lunch on the way. In the afternoon games drive in the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Ikoma Wild Camp or Serengeti Wild Camp.

Day 6: Full day tour in the Serengeti National Park. Lunch and short break at midday time at the camp. In the late afternoon another game drive and return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
 
Day 7: After breakfast drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for a half day tour. Picnic lunch in the Crater, then drive back to Highview Hotel or similar hotel.

Day 8: Early morning drive to Lake Eyasi to meet the Hadzabe Bushmen who demonstrate their life as one of the last hunter-gatherers of Africa. After the encounter, walk around the lake for bird watching. Late evening drive back to Highview Hote or similar hotel.

Day 9: After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a half day tour, then in the late afternoon drive back to the Springlands Hotel Moshi or similar hotel (HB).

Day 8: Half day walk around Moshi Town (you may decide to have lunch in a local restaurant) or 3 hours guided walk through the rice fields next to Springlands Hotel which are fed by the rains and melting snows of Kilimanjaro to a forest which is home to many species of monkeys. In the afternoon, transfer to Kilimanjaro airport to connect flight back home.
